Default Wastegate question?

I was wondering what the different sizes of wastegates do? From the little I understand the larger the wastegate, the more boost it can hold. Is that true? Also is there any reason why you would want to go to a larger wastegate if your running low boost?

Are you sure you are clear on what a wastegate is? Or are you talking about a Blow Off Valve?
A wastegate dumps exhaust before it can spin a turbo up any further. That's how it limits and controls the turbos boost. The size of a waste gate would be commensurate with the size and application of the given turbo.
