Something in my friend's civic was rattling when he would push in the clutch, so we pulled the trans. To our horror, we found that every single rivet on his fidanza aluminum flywheel had come loose! This isn't really THAT surprising since the flywheel is made of aluminum with a steel plate riveted in place where the clutch disc makes contact. Apparently, as the flywheel heats up and expands, the rivets get stretched out. Anyway, had we left it in there it probably would have come apart eventually and someone would have lost a foot.

Anyway, stay away from aluminum flywheels.

By the way, the car had 7000 miles on that flywheel with an organic compound street clutch disc.

On the civic, your friend should have gone with the JUN Chromoly flywheel. <----Excellent product....

Toda flywheels are also chromoly.

He used a fidanza because they're very inexpensive and they're lighter than cromoly flywheels (this one was 6 lbs). But after seeing this, I don't even want to walk near a car with one of these in it again... never know when it's gunna give out and go flying.

They're slogan is "Built to fly"... should be "Built to fly through your firewall and into your leg."
