WARNING: Check Your Cam Cap Bolts!
Specifics: 2001 S2000 with 42600 miles. Car is driven aggressively (but not abusively) daily by adult owner. No clutch dumps, no drag racing, always toe-heel downshifted and otherwise driven properly. Car is redlined at least three to four times daily.
While doing a valve adjustment today, I inadvertently grazed the top of one of the bolts holding the camshaft retainer caps. The bolt MOVED! Examining the bolt, it was evident that it was backed off more than two turns!! I found two other bolts in the same condition. Checking all bolts with a torque wrench, all of the 17 remaining bolts were undertorqued. I broke all the bolts and re-torqued them per the manual.
I'll be doing my 45K soon. I've decided to pull my valvetrain and re-torque all my bolts from the head up. I'll be replacing my valve retainers too while I'm in there!
If you or your mechanic are in the valvetrain for whatever reason please check these bolts!

Wow, that is really scary. There's no damage I hope!
I'll be tearing the top end down in about 3000 miles. If she lets go before then, then so be it. Great excuse for an engine build!
