Wait for engine to warm up?

I believe that the owner manual indicates that you should allow the engine to warm up for about a minute prior to driving. I haven't read this in a while so of course I may be wrong and in the event that I am, please correct my statement.

I was under the impression that it was better to drive your car gently to warm it up than to let it idle to warm up - better oil distribution or something...

someone said this before, but think about if you were woke up from bed in the morning, and that moment you had to run a full damn sprint down the street, what happens? Possibly nothing, but you could pull a muscle or something of the sort, it certainly wouldn't feel good, and we wouldn't want our F20-F22's to pull a muscle or have a bad feeling, now would we?

the car warm up fastest under lightload, it doesn't require a long idle(such as waiting til the third bar)

technically VTEC isn't really even a verb in any way, shape, or form. technically "VTEC" is ALWAYS on and working. we just use it as a commonly accepted verb/action. 
and by the way, if you try and VTEC when the engine is not warmed up, you will hit what we call, the moron limiter. as in, you'd have to be a moron to want to rev this car up that high on a cold engine. so the moron limiter kicks in and saves you from yourself.
