VTEC wont engage in first gear!
Ok im worried...
I was just out driving and during acceleration from a stop i went into VTEC. The car immediatly made a wierd sluggish type of noise, like the VTEC itself lost power so i immediatly depressed the clutch and went to second. I then came to another stop and tried again. the car wont engage the VTEC in 1st gear yet when i go to second gear and hit 6K the VTEC kicks in. i wasnt able to try other gears because i had someone in the car who is scared of going fast. Tried again and the motor just revs up in 1st with no VTEC.
No CEL and car otherwise seems fine.
Any idea what causes this and how do i fix?? Any info would be appreciated guys, i love my S you have no idea...

Yeah 6k rpm is the fuel cutoff if the car isn't warm....ideally you should even drive it a little with 3 bars warm before you punch it. Hmmm I wonder what is wrong...I've heard of the vtec solenoid messing up.
Check this thread maybe you have the same rare problem

No... VTEC is evident in my car and you not only feel it but hear it. Once the car hits 6K in first the VTEC screams and the car takes off.
I went out last night and the VTEC still wouldnt engage. So i was driving around and then tried once more from a dead stop in first and the VTEC worked in first. Gonna test again today. maybe i messed up the ECU and it had to " relearn " some things??
