VTEC not kicking in!
Hey everyone, as some of you know my s2k is a daily driver that includes winter (unfortunately), what i wanted to know is if the engine is too cold will vtec not kick in??? I was pulling out of the parking lot get it to about 4k rpm than shift to 2nd slowly accelerate to about 5k rpm than i stompted it when i hit 6 or 6.5k rpm when VTEC kicks in it stops accelerating. It diddnt die out or blow it was like the car automaticly let off the gas. keep in mind i diddnt let the engine warm of fully but i also diddnt just start it and go plus i had been driving it earier that day. Has anyone had this happened to them on a cold day. Im worried it could be the engine or if its just a safety thing for cold engines???
P.S. yes i know it was idiotic for me to punch it on a cold day.

The ECM does not let your car engage VTEC until its all warmed up. Try not to beat on the car until its time. After that..happy revving.

No, unless by "a couple of times" you mean about "a few thousand" (just bad in general to be hard on the engine when cold, I doubt you've done any quantifiable damage, if any at all)
The 2nd rev limited / fuel cut-off is there for this reason, so that you don't destroy your engine. So it should be fine, the car did its job of protecting itself.
Just let the car warm up to operating temperature, 3 bars (for AP1) / 7 bars (for AP2), before you do any hard acceleration or use VTEC, etc.

umm have you ever floored your s2k when it was warmed up? if not get the temp. gauge to 3bars and floor it all the way to 9k from a low rpm and you will know what vtec is
I actually get to only drive the car with my dad in it, so no redlining until I am in the car myself.
