You said new m3.

Non-synthetic oil or synthetic oil has no effect on HP unless the weight of the motor oil is changed. IE 10w40 may reduce power output slightly by increasing resistance.

The only way to determine if the m3's speed vs. s2000 is now to swap drivers around.

FYI you said 12.7 which isn't happening with minor bolt ons. This thread is making me stupider by the moment. I'm out.

Comparing what your buddy did to some random car on the street means absolutely nothing! That M3 could have not even realized your friend was racing! The guy could absolutely blow at driving, it proves absolutely nothing. Its like some kid on a Civic forum who beat a Ferrari Enzo, you shoulda been there it was perfect they were lined up and the light turned green and he floored it and he stomped all over that Enzo yo!!! Reality of it was the dude never saw him

Also 13.5 is a big difference from 12.7 and doesn't fall within the range of 12.7-13.4. But regardless of how much is exaggerated or true, running different oil doesn't make a car get faster. A vehicle comes from the factory with a given compression, over the years this typically goes down due to ring wear, valves, etc etc etc. There is no magical oil, if your buddy thinks there is he should let F1, Indy, Nascar and every other racing organization know, he'll be rich.

Just for shits and giggles, I decided to run the Card and Driver test numbers against a 1/4mile HP calculator, which isn't a bad way of estimating power. I used the 99 mph from the C&D test and a weight of 2972 lbs from an AP2 w/ driver I weighed recently.

The HP calculator estimated 237 Hp. Pretty darn close to what we would expect form a stock car. Running the calculator again with your buddies 102.5 mph in the video above, works out to about 263 Hp. Perfectly reasonable numbers considering his mods.

To run a 12.7 he would need about at least 113 mph to achieve those times. Running the calculator again, we come up with 352 hp. Which isn't remotely possible given his modifications. You may have seen him hang with a M3, but you didn't see that 12.7 and you never will.
