Vtec engagement seems to be smooth and no bang

If it feels weaker at higher rpms and not just at the VTEC engagement point the spark plugs are the first obvious item to check/replace. Poorly performing plugs will show their weakness at higher rpms and with the added air/fuel introduced at those rpms. Check your air filter while you are poking around the engine bay, and if you haven't replaced your pcv valve in a few years put that on the list as well.

Can you at least figure out if Vtec is actually engaging or not? I know you said it doesnt feel the same. But if you can figure out if its engaging or not that will help.
Obviously after you check plugs and what other people suggested.
I know the ECU checks for Temp/oil pressure/speed sensor/throttle position before it will engage Vtec. Could be a bad speed sensor on your tranny and Vtec just isnt engaging.

Vtec does engage but is on and off with the bang... Like tonight it felt like the vtec was kicking in really good and other nights feel a little weaker but overall yes vtec does kick in... Now, call me crazy but the longer I drive it during that day the more sluggish it is all around and not just vtec..could that be the reason why I'm feeling this at vtec? Does that mean the plugs are due? Ill check anyways but trying to paint a picture ya know?

Vtec also won't engage if your not at operating temperature or if coolant is low/air in coolant system also search high low and everywhere in-between for a vacuum leak.oem lines tend to have the most minor cracks from age.has your idle been different /funny acting as well?
