On the 06 and up cars, once you start the car, you can hit the button to turn the VSA off. You cannot turn it back on while driving, you must restart the car.

At least this is how some cars work. Is the case with the s2k?
I've never heard this myth before. Where'd you dig this one up?

Doesn't work that way at all. Push the button for about two seconds to disable the VSA and get the 500-watt /!\ icon glaring in your face while you atempt to drive. Press again to instantly (no holding the button needed) to turn VSA back off and get rid of the /!\ headlight.

I'd turn the VSA off most of the time if I could, but I don't think about it as I get in the car, and the VSA's bright /!\ icon is really annoying.

I tried talking Modifry into creating an add-on that would invert the VSA button's behavior (Defaults to off and the ! lights up when it's on) and he's looked into it but to my knowledge hasn't spent much time on it.

Sure, I would have preferred a car without VSA when I bought mine, but at the time, they didn't make any more brand-new never-been-driven-by-anyone-else AP1s so I chose to get a new '06 rather than deal with someone else's cooties.

Why bother keeping vsa off on the streets? You shouldn't be doing anything in which disabling it would be useful...

Personally, I leave it on unless I'm on the track, or at an autocross.

why not??? what about the s2k's that don't have VSA?

i've been driving without VSA for several years...should i stop driving on public roads?
People also drive cars without airbags - should they stop driving?

Older cars didn't have seat belts - does this mean that I'm just as safe without one?

VSA can and will save your life in a driving situation when it gets out of hand. But to be perfectly honest, I really could care less about the safety of someone who chooses to disable the VSA and act like a hero. Instead, it is those other innocent people on the road that we SHARE, that I worry about and have enough respect for that I keep my tail out antics, and trail braking on the track.

As DAVE-ROR mentioned, there isn't much of a reason as to why one would disable the VSA system on a public road. It doesn't limit you in anyway on a nice backroad - I just got back from the Dragon, and despite spirited driving, and VSA didn't impede my fun in anyway.

Not having it doesn't mean you should stop driving your car. My friend's 67 chevelle doesn't have seat belts in it, but that doesn't stop him from driving it. But at the same time, there's no point in DISABLING a safety device on a newer vehicle that has it. My sincere advice to 06+ S2k owners would be to leave the VSA system on unless under controlled conditions (track, autox, private property).

....or when doing donuts in any empty parking lot
