Default VSA and ! Lights on but ABS still works

Hi all, I have an '06 ap2 and the VSA came on randomly after a test drive. I pulled the code via the jumper and blink method and found 81, VSA failure. I have had this code before 2 years ago and replaced the VSA unit with an ebay one and it fixed the issue. However, in this situation I am surprised ABS still works. So my question is where does the ABS computer live, in the VSA unit or the ECU? I don't care about VSA because this is a race car, but I want to keep ABS. Anything else I should know? Cheers!

I could be wrong but I believe VSA needs ABS to work but not the other way around. I lost VSA on my car for about two years due to a steering wheel angle sensor and my ABS always worked. I believe its a fully independent system. However I do know if you lose ABS you then lose VSA.

That is what I'm thinking too. I don't know why the VSA died on the car. Is there a way to test if the steering wheel angle sensor is faulty?

I'll pull the code again. All I got was DTC 81.
