Default VSA + Check Engine light

This morning, my VSA and check engine light came on simultaneously. Just these two lights. I had this problem before. The ce light pulled a cylinder 2 misfire, so I ran some gas additive and the ce light went away some short days later.

I started with the small things with the VSA light (add brake fluid and proper tire pressure). Eventually the VSA light went off as well.

Now, they have both come back on. It's a strange combo to be linked together.

I bought this 2006 second hand. It has stock calipers (replaced) with hawk hp+ pads. And the car doesn't run any different from what I notice.

I've done my research but I don't see anyone else have this problem.

Not sure where to start next, and of course I want to avoid the stealership if possible.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

You might need a valve adjustment or injectors cleaned.

Most likely needs a valve adjustment, probably should have been done at 30k

Do a valve adjustment immediately. I have been finding tight exhaust valves on over 50% of dbw S2000s. I will post a bulletin soon.

Don't concern yourself with the VSA light.

It come on by default WITH the CEL, because the VSA system uses the engine controls.

If you had a VSA light only, then you have a VSA problem. So your VSA is ok.
