Vortech SC installation question
How long does it take for a shop to install the vortech supercharger?
I have been receiving estimates ranging from 8 hours to 20 hours.

I think this is a reasonable range of times. If a shop has done it before, then I can see it closer to 8 hours. If a shop has never done one, then I can also see it closer to 20. It also depends on how many people they got working on it.

Thanks xviper ... I asked this question because every shop that I have called gave me a different answer. Doesn't make the decision process easy because I do not have first hand knowledge of their competency.

I did mine (Comptech) in 14 hours by myself. I had never done one before, had limited tools on-hand, limited mechanical knowledge, was outside and 35 degrees F, had to lay in dog poop under my car, had a dinky 60W shop light that I blew the bulb on three times because I droped it, burnt my arm once touching it and it was 9-10PM when I started.
I don't see why a shop would take any longer than 8-10 hours to complete an install given their implied mechanical knowledge, better access to tools and less dog poop.

8 HOURS!!!??? Stay away from that shop as that time estimate tells me he has never done one. It is a big job and must be done carefully or you will have problems down the road. The oil pan must be tapped, an intercooler installed, and more electrics than the comptech kit. Mine took at least 20 hrs. to do it right with just one guy that knew his shit (not me). Phil

supercharger installs arent that hard to install... seriously... I installed my turbo kit on my cav, in under 20 hours.. and thats with going to napa and checker auto stores 3 times... Supercharger kits are basically bolt ons w/ some additions to it
Even if it takes 3 days to install i say do it yourself.... Dont let some other mechanic how has never done it b4 do the samthign you'll do.... scratch your head and say' hey how come it dont fit' lol

I did mine myself in about 28 Hrs broken up into 4 hr stints.
It was my first time and I had no lift so had to work on my back.
If I had to do it again, had all the tools at hand including a lift I reckon I could do it in 10 to 12 hours.
