Default Vortech question?

I did a search and didnt really find anything on these. But I have 40k on my s2k 00 and I want to put a vortech supercharger on it. Will it be safe with that many miles on it? And also this is my daily driver I average about 45miles a day in driving? Is it safe to be a daily driver this vortech.
Thanks
Oz

I would get a compression check to make sure all 4 cylinders are ok. I would also get your stock clutch replaced with something that has more clamping force. I am going with ACT PP, OEM disk and toda flywheel. Other than that I don't think you would have any other problems with that type of mileage at all. Some may say that the car is broken in and ready for FI.

Here is a good picture of the final product, that is worth every dollar!

Btw, I drove over 400 miles last week in 104+ degree weather and I had no problems at all. I had my intake temps measured at the exit point of the blower and it was 158 and at the TB it was 101 degrees. So the aftercooler does work very well.

If you are on your original clutch with 40K miles, it's probably time. As said, have the engine compression checked out first. If the car has been running well, it should be a good candidate for a Vortech.

Since we are on topic of vortech and changing clutch,

I heard that to change clutch on SC'ed engine, you'll have to detach the SC. is it correct?

Absolutely not.

The clutch change can be done in less than 3 hours. Raise the car, drop the subframe a little, tilt the engine back, drop the tranny.

Easy as pie!

I would not call it "easy as pie". This "little" you are talking about is less than an inch as the blower is that close to the frame cross member. I'm glad to hear that it can be done this way as that was how I planned to do mine. As for the 3 hours, maybe for 2 professionals working in tandem with power tools but this is customarily a 1 business day job at the Honda dealer. And for a home mechanic, I'm thinking it will be a very long day working alone.
ps. If you have a dealer do this, they will most likely refuse unless you remove the blower first. They must do it "by the book", which is dropping the engine straight down 4 inches.

A good performance shop will do it however you need them to.

Dropping the sub-frame and tilting the back of the engine down ward, is exactly how it needs to be done.

I am in the same situation. Although my stock clutch has always felt strong and still does.

From your other threads, I don't get the feeling that you would know how easy it is. Are you saying that you have actually changed your own S2000 clutch? Numerous people have changed their own clutches on this board, and they generally say to set aside a whole weekend and have a helper available for some parts.

I think he was referring to dropping just the transmission out. Considering a good shop maybe able to do it in one business day. At least that is what I found out while inquiring around.
