Vortech Fuel Pump noise
I know a lot of you have installed a Vortech supercharger kit on your S2000's.I had mine installed back in June. With only 3'000 km's on the fuel pump that came with the kit... I get a fairly loud whine(best way I can describe it.),that comes after driving for a hundred miles approx. The sound didn't begin until mid summer.I called Vortech and the Technician informed me that they are known for having noisy fuel pumps because they are high output.I run withSunoco 94...I am just curious if those of you that have this setup have simular noisy pumps?I have read on this fourm that this has also been observed with some Comptech installations as well. This was an installaton I had done at the dealership.I don't Know If I should be concerned.I have 15,000kms on the car with no other mechanical mods and the car runs great.I do not hear any pinging .

Maybe I should try changing the fuel filter? It's original.Has anyone
used anything other than a Honda fuel filter with good results.Any recommendations?I think it's possible for an old filter
to put a strain on the pump. The car gets stored a fair bit so maybe it's getting gummed up inside. As long as the stereo is off and the car is at idle the whine is detectible inside and outside the car.

I would not worry about it too much unless it's very loud.
If this is the case just bring it back to the dealer and get them to have a look at since they did the job.
BTW how much did they charge you for the installation and how long did they take?

I had complicating factors which translated into more shop time.I had extra wiring in the driver side kick panel for a perimeter alarm & 3 amps & a sub woofer system in the trunk to work around. Also, the Vortech kit came with a bent3/8'sx1/2bolt and a missing lateral s/cmounting plate support. After it was all mounted the mechanic discovered the tensioner adjustment screw was slightly bent and he stipped the thread in the belt tensioner...this meant some disassembly and reassembly.
Overall a total of a week and this included installation of a stage3 clutch.Labour was$1700.00 Cdn for the s/c install and another $600.00 Cdn. labour for the clutch. In the end I was pleased wiyh the results.
Everything except for several small dents on top of the fenders which they removed with paintless dent removal at no charge. They will keep the warranty for the remainder of the 3 year term that came with the car...thats about it.Sorry honda9krpm for taking so long to get back on line
