Sorry about the manufacturers specifications but I had absolutely nothing to do with that.
All I did was copy the numbers at the time.
Note: at the time!
Oil formulations change.

Because it all depends on eachother calculated values are "wrong" too by today's specs but the posted chart is right.
You need: visc. @ 40C and 100C and VI and you can calculate visc at any given temp.
With Java installed you can give it a try here:
http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/3655/VI.html
At really low temps (-10 or so and lower) it becomes a bit inaccurate, but to compare #'s its allright.
IMO.

Owners manual states 5/40 can be used. I've been using the 5/40 Amsoil for 2 years this oil tends to be on the thinner side of a 40wt. and I have shown no loss in fuel economy whatsoever versus a 30wt oil. Given how hot it gets here in the summer I'll continue to use it. I plan to do an analysis on my next oil change.

keep me posted!

i switched from amsoil 10w30 to amsoil 5w40, and noticed a noticeable drop in oil consumption.
