Visual Difference in 2000-2004 Clutch Disks
How can you tell if an OEM disc you have is one of the "updated" ones. I have a 2004 disc with 6,000 miles that I bought from a board member, but it looks the same as a 2000 disc plus the springs are loose and rattle (measured thickness is within the FSM specs for a new disc). I just want to make sure what I put in there will fix the clutch rattle I have now (stock clutch w/ 85k). According to TSB 00-0054 the failed part is 22200-PCX-005 and the replacement is 22200-PCX-055 (The TSB I'm looking at is the latest one I believe, dated Nov 27, 2001)
Here is a picture of a 22200-PCX-045:

Here is a pic of the disk Hardtop Guy sells called "OEM Clutch Friction Disc #92"
I'm a bit confused here esp. since there is no P/N on the one that I have just an engraving that says "OX3JO3" (I think)

As an update, went to the local Honda dealer today and 22200-PCX-055 is the most current clutch disk for all 2000-2005 S2000's. I felt the springs on the one they had in stock and they were preloaded, didn't move at all. It was also a 4 spring disc. I'll take a picture and comment on the stock disc I have w/ 87k on it when I finish getting my trans out, but It looks like someone tried to pass off a 22200-PCX-005 (defective) disc as a 22200-PCX-055 on me. Won't mention any board members names yet...

Just a thought - not all of the "rattle" disks will rattle. I don't know that a small amount of looseness (lack of preload) has anything to do with the rattling. Maybe it does, I don't know...
