vibration w/ new OEM diff mounts

Default vibration w/ new OEM diff mounts

I put new OEM diff mounts on my 03 AP1 and I noticed whenever I am driving hard, I can feel vibration through the seats especially in higher RPM above VTEC. It's a different type of vibration and not the kind that would be from improper balance of tires. I didn't torque the bolts, but I made sure that they were tight. I looked at the mounts and there is small fluid that seems to have come out and dried out under the driver side mount. Could these diff mounts be defective? thanks

Sounds like you busted one of the new mounts b/c of the liquid.

As far as the vibration, how many miles on your car? The CV buckets tend to wear a spot in them after age and you are probably feeling this more because of the newer mounts.

Likely just coincidence.

I'll bet you have pitted CV buckets. Time to swap side to side.

Okay thanks, I thought the CV buckets get pitted only if the car has been lowered. my s2k has 160,000 miles and the driver side axle is a aftermarket axle. I'll try to find a oem axle and swap the buckets. Thanks

They get pitted reguardless if they are lowered or not. Lowering it after the car has already made a small pit will just make it wear out faster and be more noticable.

Think of it this way, you start digging a hole with a spade, then after a few scoups you move over just next to your old hole and start a new one. Eventually your two holes will become nearly one in the same. The CV bearing rides back in forth between these two holes and the wear increases more rapidly. Thus the vibration.

No need to get any parts...remove axles, and put the left bucket on the right axle and vise versa.
