Default Vibration from clutch

Hey there was wondering if any one could help??

i have a 99 s2000 which has just done over 60K my problem is when the car is decelerating around the 3k rev mark there seems to be a vibration coming from underneath the gear stick and this vibration can be felt on the clutch peadel!!

i had taken the car to honda and they are saying that the clutch needs to be changed, i also had a honda mechanic outside of hond to have a look and he thinks it just seem to be the nature of the car as it revs so high?

i checked underneath if it could be a heat sheild around the cat but all screws and bolts are in tact and not lose.

i am stuck now and dont want to be paying big bills to remove the clutch to find out that this could not be the problem?

is there any one who can help or advise what this could be or if they have had this problem and no how to fix it??

Replace the clutch disk. The noise comes from the springs in the center of the disk.

So if I replace th Clutch disk does this mean i would need to get a whole new kit or can i simply buy a new disk to go in the exsiting kit??

if so is it possible to buy a uprated disk and install that in the original housing??

and im guessing over time the original disk will no longer work or will it be fine??

The noise comes from the springs in the center of the disk.
Almost.
The springs being loose generates a vibration (= noise) in the primairy shaft, most notciable in 3rd gear decelerating from 4.5K revs or so.

The updated OEM clutch disk is:
22200-PCX-055, the 055 is the update.
So watch for that, maybe there is still old stock around?

Mecanically the noise is no problem.

If it wears beyond its limit due to use, it needs to be replaced.
The loose springs have no effect.

That's up to you.

I replaced just the disk at 35k miles when the noise got so bad that I could no longer enjoy owning a car that poorly put together. OEM disk from Hardtopguy, a lifetime supply of urea-thickened grease, and a few incidentals came to about $125. Now I like the car again; in hindsight I should have bitten the bullet and replaced the defective disk a year or two earlier.

Of course, if the pressure plate or one of the bearings goes bad, I get to do the whole process over again prematurely. You may find that the condition of your clutch is such that you'd be foolish not to replace everything. It just depends on mileage and driving style. You pay your money and take your chances...
