LOL, yea, no doubt half shaft (not axle) spacers would have saved my tire.
The vibration *might* be from the old wear patterns in the rear inner CV joints. You could either buy spacers, or save that money for something useful and just flip the CV joint cups. Both do the same thing and place the spider in an unworn position in the cup, flipping the cups does it without adding another point for the driveline to break, and as a plus, you don't have to buy any aftermarket parts.

LOL, and nobody knows that better than you.
It's my own experiment of stock vs. 4.57+Comptech diff we'll see if stock lasts less than the "reinforced" 17,000 miles.
If it goes kaboom within 5k miles, I'm upgrading to Inline Pro diff and going Turbo.
If it lasts over 15k miles, I'll just keep replacing with OEM used diffs.

I've decided to try and destroy this diff (with "normal" driving).

I still think the wear patterns on your gears look wrong, and that points to a bad build, but given the way you have driven the car I suspect you might break pretty much anything.
You know, I tried to bust my diff too, before we put the straps in, and I wasn't as successful as you. OTOH, I'd NEVER drive my car the way you've driven yours, so you'll probably always break things I can't. LOL, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but since you've moved now I'll bet you don't have the same problem again. Not unless you put some really grippy rubber on the car (or get another diff with incorrect setup).
If my cheap Kia gears break a tooth, or I manage to break the reinforcing straps and spit the gears out the back of the pumpkin, then I'll probably go with a Nissan diff, since we've got so many of the things laying around the shop. If I do that then I can think about more tire and more power, but I'm so pleased with the way the car is right now that I hate to change ANYTHING.
I'll bet the heat where you are now isn't nearly as hard on the car as the roads where you use to live.
