vibrating / rattling niose at around 3000 rpm (even in neutral)
#21
Been trying to track down my rattle still. No luck.
I had a friend drive the car at 3,000 rpm while I tried applying pressure to panels, wires, ect in my trunk area. I have my trunk gutted at this point, and no interior big panel separating the trunk so I was able to touch a decent amount. I couldn't stop the buzzing with anything I was touching.
I then tried the following things with no luck:
-Tapped the gas door shut to stop vibration
-Stuffed a sweatshirt into the actual trunk - inbetween the panels and around the brake light wires.
-Stuffed the sweatshirt into various position in the trunk to dappen or stop vibrations.
-Removed the emergency trunk release (That thing is super flimsy and seems very prone to vibrations
-Checked the license plate tightness
Still now luck. Exhaust seems super sturdy, doesn't hit anything when I try and push it.
Any one have any ideas?

I found my source of the rattle.
It took a while, but I believe I have located the issue.
The cover for the fuel tank is vibrating! I attempted to screw it down more, and each scew had a little more to give but that didn't fix the problem.
I don't really want to undo the gas tank cover, so I think I'm just going to apply some sound deadening.

I put some vacuum line on one of the trunk springs split down the length of it (long enough to cover the whole length of the trunk spring)
The vacuum line Honda put on there is not long enough and allows the springs to rattle against each other making a rattling, buzzing noise in the driver's side rear area. It would make the noise when at ~3000 RPM, and also when hitting certain low notes on the subwoofer...HTH

I looked at the springs before I installed the vacuum lines over it, and could see where they had been vibrating against each other wearing off the paint and causing a little rust there...

Bump. I experience this on both of my s2ks only when the top is up. One has a stock exhaust, another has an aftermarket exhaust. Spare/rear tray has been gutted on both.
