Hey Wicky,

Get the car in ASAP. I've got an S2000 AEM EMS I've been playing with. Picked up some decent power on my stock (CAI) car. The owner of the EMS would like to see what the cams are capable of doing as he'd like to put some on his car. So we can put it on your car and see what it likes.

BTW, on the topic of AEM EMSs, the V 1.03 stuff is lightyears better than the original stuff. I've used everything from V0.38(I think) up to some of the V0.9 stuff and wasn't particularly happy wtih it - this was my first time playing with V1.03. Still some niggling issues with idle stability, etc., but I had the car up and running and gained hp on the dyno in just a couple hours. Drove it home with the EMS last night too. Its a fully functional and usable system now.

UL,

What sort of gains did you see on your car with the CAI and AEM EMS? Assuming the mugen header was removed and running stock, no?

mugens - there's always more to just sticking a part on and making power.... a LOT more in this case

UL - I am so freaking busy right now, but I'll try and see if I can get some time. I'll let you know in a couple days whats up. Thanks for the opportunity, and thank the owner of the AEM for me

I only did about 8 passes. Was able to pick up 5 lbs-ft of torque below VTEC, brought VTEC in at 5500 for a significant gain (needed more ignition timing there though to make it work) and then picked up 5 hp at peak and 15 hp at 9000 rpm. No gains between 6500 and 7500 rpm, but part of that was due to the change in dynamics with VTEC activation.

Also moved the rev limit up to 9200 rpm which was nice. With VTEC at 5500 and the higher limiter, you have 20% more rpm in the VTEC band.

There's probably a couple more hp in it, but again, I only have the AEM CAI on the car right now. I wouldn't recommend something this pricey for a basic bolt-on car, a VAFC will serve almost as well. But as people starting adding cams, headwork, and other major engine mods (or especially if you're FI), its very useful.
