Vavle cover baffle removal and re-installation
So I had a local shop powdercoat my valve cover, I get it back and to my horror I see this on the underside
To run this valve cover again I need to get ALL that grime and sand out, including what could have got under the baffle.
So I drilled out the tops of the rivets to pull the baffle out and am in the process of cleaning it out and I have a few questions
What is this going around the edges of the baffle to seal it, high temp rtv?
What would be the best way to re-attach the baffle, im thinking just to rivet it again. If I do im wondering if its necessary to re do all 18(I think) rivets
And is there any solution I can soak the whole valve cover in to help get all of the grime out the edges that wouldn't damage the paint

That was hondabond. I would reapply a bead during reassembly and either rivet, or drill and tap the holes and replace with bolts. Soaking the cover/washing it in simple green will take care of any residue, etc. Then just air dry or bake at very low temp in an oven to get the remaining moisture out.
