Smoke out exhaust under heavy acceleration usually is oil rings. Smoke out back under deceleration --- using engine compression to help you slow down usually is valve seals and/or stems.

Try this trick: Have someone drive behind you as a witness. Use lower gear to help you slow down. Then, gun the engine. If a bunch of smoke goes out the exhaust = valve seals/stems... almost for sure.

What's the compression reading numbers? What is the oil consumption per 1K miles?
