Default Valve Retainers

I have read the posts on replacing intake retainers and cotters that I could find but would like to ask if you can visually look at the retainers and tell rather you have AP1 or AP2 retainers. I bought a year 2000 AP1 from someone and would like to check this out. Can anyone help? A picture of the two different retainers side by side would be VERY helpful if that is available. Thanks

Bill, is there a way to create a thread and sticky it with that picture as well as general information about the swap? So many people lately have been posting up regarding retainers and it'd eliminate most of the repetitive posts. I figured something that just outlines the differences, the benefits, etc. Also noting that AP1 keepers/cotters will NOT work with AP2 retainers and vice versa.

Yes when I find some time I can sticky one of my other threads and add this pic and info.

But cutting down on repetitive posts wont happen. I've been here since 2002 and have tried it already But it's worth another shot.

well this way when people post up asking all sorts of questions that have already been answered we can just link them to said thread and let them find their own answers themselves. lol

Thank you for the response. Sorry if the post was repetative. Thought I had found most of the info out there. Do appreciate the picture. Since I have an AP1 & Ap2 I'd just look at the two but I keep the AP2 in a different city. Thanks again

Please take a look at this thread:

https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/889...out-retainers/

Billman and I have completely different views to our S2k cyl head issues, but good information from both of us are posted in this thread. It will do you justice to read it and make your decision on the work you are about to do to your s2k. AP2s/honda parts are not bullet proof. Just FYI.
