VALVE RETAINER CHECK 101
#12
the 'inner wall' is the inner ring in the center of the valve retainer which is the silver round disc.
the valve on the left - you can see the 'keeper' (which is the piece that fits inside the inner ring of the retainer) is more or less even with the surface of the valve retainer.
now look at the valve on the right. You can see the keeper has been pushed down and is sunken in, and there is significantly more inner wall of the retainer visible.

how much does it cost to change out the retainers?
TIME? MONEY?
DOES THE ENGINE NEED SOME KIND OF SPECIAL TUNING OR DIAGNOSIS AFTER NEW RETAINERS ARE PUT ON?
ANY THREAD ABOUT CHANGING THE RETAINER.
ONE LAST QUESTION DO YOU HAVE TO TANK OUT THE ENGINE FROM THE ENGINE BAY?

Another newbie question...This is actually quite interesting to me....
I'm looking at the pictures and I see how the "keeper" is sunk in. What exactly is "cracked"?? I don't see anything cracked in the pictures, its it underneath where you see the crack?

Search in under the hood, and you'll find a lot of discussion (and more photos) on the topic.
