Default valve lash & engine heat

Does valve lash (clearance or play) become tighter or looser, as the engine heats up, in an S2000 engine?

Thanks!

As the engine gets hot the valve clearances tend to close up as the parts heat.

That's why they're set cold (Honda specifies no more than 100°F) and the recommendation is to set at the top of the scale. For exhaust valves this is 0.011".

if you are trying to adjust valves hot, forget it. Just go get a big box fan for 16 bucks and set it on high on the head for like 30 mins.
