Lightly bent valves wear out the guides, just before the head of the valve breaks off. Lots of miles, infrequent oil changes, low oil all contribute to guide wear.
Insuficient valve clearance with a botched valve adjustment usually wears the valve seat 1st.
Ever mechanically over rev on a down shift even slightly?

it was once slight over reved by a friend of mine when he shifted from 6-2 at around 75 miles, but i think he caught the clutch before the rpm went all the way up. other than that, there's none i can think of.
That would be the most likely cause.

Thanks guys! Most likely that's what caused it. i will call my installer to let him inspect the valves to see if they are fine.
should i replace them even if they look ok? thanks!
