Default Valve guides worn out at 17000 miles

Hey guys, just got a call from my installer that my value guides are wron out already. The car only has 17000 miles and 2000 of them were supercharged miles.
What could be the cause of this? is it common?
thanks in advance

Worn out valve guides would usually mean the valve guide seals are gone. If those are gone, your engine would be drinking oil like crazy. Is it? Maybe he doesn't know what worn out valves guides look like on an S2000?

Hmmm, that is getting to the point of being a concern but still not quite there yet. Another local owner had that kind of oil consumption. The dealer gave him a short block (used the same head) and the car burns very little oil now. So, in his case, it wasn't the top end at all.
When I say burning like crazy, bad valve seals can show as much as 1L every 500 kms. Your exhaust would be showing a great deal of smoke.
What background is your installer? Is he familiar with the S2000 motor? I'm still wondering if he's incorrect in his assessment. I'm not saying that I know what bad guides would look like, but with so many things on this car, previous mechanical knowledge doesn't seem to always apply.

Yeah, guides are pretty tough. Ask him how he determined they were worn. Then I'd read the honda manual and see if it makes sense.

Unless he removed the cylinder head and measured the guides, he's guessing that they are worn.

Thanks for the help Dave!
He has done head jobs on s2000s a few time in the past, so i think he knows his stuff. The thing that got me thinking is why they got wron out so quickly
