I noticed some very minimal "residue" around the edge of the valve cover, just above the header. The only reason I could see it was because of a small amount of road grime was attached to it, and for the most part it went along about 50%edge here and there, but not all of it. I have just over 3k on the car.

I don't believe this is oil seepage, but wonder if it is just excess "hondabond" from the factory. Does this sounds reasonable - any ideas? Thanks!

I have 40,000 miles and I noticed this just recently. I bugged the heck out of me but I showed it to a friend of mine who is a mechanic. He thought it was normal. Of course, a lot of people on this board are very expert and may disagree.

Seepage more likely - but a tiny bit is nothing to get in a panic about. Just clean it well with some degreaser, drive it until the car is good and hot, and check again. Unless you see more, I would not bother with it - in the trade we call this oil "weeping". Certainly, your Honda dealer could re-Hondabond it for you, and my dealer is trustworthy, but this is something that if it had to be done, I would do it myself, to ensure it was done right, and that no "crap" gets into the engine. Let sleeping dogs lie, and all that - someone else reported a similar nit a few months ago, and as I recall, he found it was just some debris from mfg, and it did not recur.
