The baffle is welded in with sonic welds (17?).
Look into the rain h8r mod. He has a detailed guide on the remove/replace procedure.
If you have a drill press and a little aptitude, it's not too hard.

My '99 AP1 valve cover wasn't leaking before I did the last valve clearances and retainer inspection, so I did not bother replacing the cover seals. Still no leaks since...
From what I can tell it's the original gasket and plug well seals.

Fk all this, i can get i new valve cover from Majestic Honda for $ 256.00, it would cost me that much to have it
powder coated. And i will replace all the gaskets. End of subject............

BTW - I'll add my voice to the chorus and say that I have reused S2k VC gaskets many times. No troubles whatsoever. But, lately I just put in new ones for peace of mind and because I can.

Just be sure to check that the VC gasket has not partially dropped out of the VC channel before tightening the bolts. I found my gasket slipped out on intake side near firewall while dropping the VC in place. Luckily, I saw this before I mashed the gasket.
