Default Valve cover gasket

When I developed high pressure from a plugged PCV valve not only did I blow the oil pan seal but created a large leak from the valve cover. I pulled the cover and the gasket looks fine (maybe compressed?) but I am not sure what a new one looks like. Do I just clean this off an reinstall or do I need a new gasket to insure the leak is sealed?

As soon as I saw it was quickly available at a reasonable price I got a new one.

Meh, a new gasket kit for the valve cover isn't that expensive. I'd go ahead and replace if it had a leak on it before.
