Valve cover bolt torque question.
Just did a valve adjustment and while tightening the last valve cover bolt.....snap, bolt head pops off. The Helm manual calls for 8.7lb-ft, but I guess my torque wrench isn't too accurate at such a low setting. Should I tighten them down by feel with a regular wrench or buy another(smaller) torque wrench?

8.7? I though it was 6. Guess I'll have to check again. Anyway, unless you have a small inch-lb torque wrench, doing it by feel is more accurate at those small torques.
BTW, when the bolt snaps you got lucky. Much better to replace the bolt than to screw up the block!

Thanks for the responses. Now to find some new bolts and washers. I've already got a headache thinking about going to the local crappy dealership and explaining what I need.
