Valve adjustment every 6 months
#12
im following the proper specs. and im not sure if its the same valves that are messing up. I will make sure to note which ones the next time i do an adjustment. which is probably very soon.

How do you know that you need the valves adjusted every six months ?, are they out of adjustment every time you check them at the 6 month interval ?. This does not sound plausible. Your issues are elsewhere.
There are many other things that can cause your symptoms besides valve clearances - MAP sensor, bent valves, burnt valves, spark plugs, coils, injectors........

Are the same valves out-of-spec, each time you check? Could be the adjusting screws or nuts for these rocker arms are stretched or cross-threaded.

Are you tightening the locking bolts separately after adjusting the valve? It is possible for movement to occur during tightening or locking. Do you use the nifty tool that combines the screwdriver with nut tool?
I suspect the problems lies there. Either it is not tight enough and moves on its own or you inadvertently throw it out of adjustment.

Also, that tool makes a world of a difference. I couldn't imagine doing a valve adjustment without one; especially solo.

Yeah my procedure is using the tool to tighten the jam nut, check clearance. Use a torque wrench to torque to spec, check clearance. If I don't adjust the valve I still torque to spec, check clearance. Do this on all 4 valves then move to the next cylinder.
