I have an 03 S2K, bought it new. Has about 40k miles on it got a quote from the dealer for a valve adjustment of $279.00 Does that sound correct?

Doing it yourself is not so hard... It gives you a chance to learn, feel good about knowing it was done right. Etc. Plenty of DIY info on here if your up for it. I did mine, first time through took about 2.5 hours. I took my time, and made sure to do it right. For $50 in tools you can tackle the job and I recommend it

All you need is a feeler gauge to do it yourself and its pretty easy. Some of them are pretty tricky to get to but its not to hard. Im 18 and did mine myself when I put a new shortblock in my s2k.

$279 is WAY to much, especially when you consider they wont adjust them to custom specs.

Shop again...
