so if i go emanage do i need to get the ignition and injector harnesses?
can the software be used to data log and then tune using that data or does it absolutely have to go to the dyno right off?

You can get a P&P eManage harness from Boomslang. They can even wire in the injector and timing harnesses for you so no cutting/soldering of your factory harness is involved. The eManage by itself only has limited adjustments. You'll want to get the Support Tool to fully unlock its potential. You can read more about it on GReddy's website.

The Software has basic datalogging. You will need the software and the greddy specific cable if you plan on changing the parameters yourself.
If you don't plan on messing with the timing ( I wouldn't ) or directly adding fuel you won't need the additional harnesses. You may need the injector harness. I've never messed with a e-manage on a NA car, so I can't tell you for certain.
www.vtecfrog.com can also make custom e-manage PnP harnesses.

i dont need a PnP harness as id rather solder it in myself anyways . i wire alarms and whatnot for a living so its not too hard.
i was just wondering if the car has to be dyno tuned or can be tuned usng the RTA function with a laptop outside of a dyno. can you log the data, see what parameters are not where they should be, and change them accordingly or do you need the dyno to analyze the car?

The nice thing about a PnP harness is tht if you do have a problem, you can quickly isolate it to the e-manage or the wiring connections. It's also much easier to wire with the harness on a bench instead of having your head and arms stuck under the dash.
