Vacuum Sound?

Vacuum Sound?
My car sounds like a vacuum. It's very prominent, coming from the engine bay. I know it's there at idle, and it stays after a drive. I took the top of my intake box off, so the air filter is exposed. Could that be causing the problem?
I haven't really played with much to diagnose it yet, I'm hoping it might be a known issue that others are having and its either A. easy to fix, or B. a non-issue
The car seems to drive fine. 105,000 miles, it's stock MY01. I'm not sure if the sound was there when I first got it. Someone pointed it out to me or I probably wouldn't have noticed. Now I notice it all the time.
Any ideas?
Since I've gotten the car:
I've Replaced the clutch
I took off the intake box top
The temperature went up
Thanks

so you took off the air box lid and you suddenly have a vacuum sounds?
well, you can think of the motor as a vacuum drawing in air with each stroke, removing the air box lid defeat the intake resonator, i believe that's your primary cause of vacuum sounds problem.
ar...taking the lid off the airbox heat soak the car, a lose lose situation there
