Default V-Tec Problem

Hi there, while driving back from a fun night out i got to a dual carriageway within a couple of minutes and accelerated hard and when i got to the V-Tec it cut out. (The V-Tec didn't work basically) I then realized that it being cold out there and i had only been driving for a couple of minutes the engine would still be cold. have i done any serious damage to my engine?

When the engine isn't fully warmed up, it has a rev limiter at [strike]7k[/strike] 6k to keep you from damaging the engine. No serious damage should have occurred.

Your fine. It's a safety feature. Wait until you have 4 bars before you gun it

Make sure you have 2 bars on the temp gauge, and that there is enough engine oil. Make sure to check both sides of the dipstick.

Wait for three bars on ap1, not two.

Yeah dont end up like me. My VTEC wont engage in first gear after i did the same thing you did. Works in all other gears but first which to me is ultra bizarre. Gonna check my VTEC solenoid and then reset the ECU to see if thats the issue because otherwise all the requirements to engage VTEC in my car are met.
