I'm using Royal Purple 5W-30 now. The 10W-60 was used for few months before. The question was, did it affect the engine parts that much?
No need to worry.

Although all of our race cars currently running 5w-40, I saw TONS, TONS of F20C running 10w-60 withOUT ANY ISSUE for long term.

FYI, 10w-60 oil is very popular weight on highly modified cars in Japan.

Everything pretty much wears into a good place, so if you change oil spes you are changing that wear pattern

What viscosities do those 5W-40 oils still have after their service?
Do you know?
Do you have the oil analized?

One 10W-60 UOA I found on BITOG showed it sheared down to a 40 weight pretty quickly, within 1400 miles.
(in a Ferrari, but IMO that doesn't matter, it wasn't tracked or anything)
The people that know (on BITOG) have not much good to say about "10W-60 racing" oils.
Overpriced and not shear stable.

It would not have done any harm in an S2000, especially if it was used for a short time.
Not recommended, that's for sure.

In a region (summer now) where temperature can reach 95 F. Is using 5w-30 appropriate?

SAE 5W-30 is a viscosity range label on an oil bottle. There is nothing concrete that you can assume for actual real world operational use and wear protection from this label. The label only indicates what the oil viscosity range (cold and hot) starts out with initially. It doesn't guarantee that the oil characteristics will stay there while in use. Many don't, especially energy conserving oils.

With that being said, I have not seen a bad UOA for the F22. It appears to be pretty bullet proof as it relates to which oil you choose. But UOA's don't tell the whole story, at least for us amateurs. Only a tear down will identify what is actually happening as it relates to deposits, varnishing, coking of ring packs, etc. All of these things can hurt performance.

Honda recommends 10W-30 energy conserving oils, and 5W-40 for cold weather. Will a 5W-30 oil work for your climate? Yes. Will a 0W-30 work? Yes. Will a 10W-30 and 5W-40 work? Yes.

Do yourself a favor and start doing oil analysis if you are concerned about the oil viscosity you are using. That way you will be more comforatble with your decisions.

Well said.
Is the copy & paste answer for 99% of the oil questions.

Higher viscosity can affect your gas mileage(will go lower).
