okay so i was replacing the header and i took it out and proceeded to take out the o2 sensor. for some f@#king reason it got stripped!!! this is my only car and there isnt a o2 sensor available at any auto parts store. so i ordered a new one, but it wont be here in a couple days. can I run the car without a o2 sensor?

I wouldnt drive it with out the oxegyn sensor. especially since you are putting on an aftermarket header. You will have a rough time idleing with out the car stalling. The easiest way to get the sensor out is to do it while the header is still on the car. Spray the hell out of the threads with some wD-40 or pb blaster. Then take a channel lock or vice grips. Have someone hold the header as tight as they can so it doesnt move, then squeeze the hell outta the wrench as tight as you can so that the teeth on the wrench almost dig into the nut on the sensor. the gently start turn the wrench to loosen the sensor. If this doesnt work you will have to wait for the new sensor. but considering that its already strip i wouldnt want to put it back in in case i had to take it out again. just my 2 pennies.

No I should have been more clear. I got the sensor out, but the threads somehow got stripped. So now now it won't screw in coz the threads are all messed up.

Run a die over the stripped threads and if you're lucky you can use it temporarily until the new sensor gets to you. You'd need a proper die (O2 sensors are usually M18X1.5).

It's up to you to determine if it's better to repair or replace the sensor. Since the sensor is portable, you may consider taking it to a machine shop.

if you can't clean the threads and you ordered a new 02 sensor already, then just get some steel wire and tie the 02 sensor down so the sensor part of it sticks into the hole. Sure it won't go all the way through since you can't screw it in and you will have an exhaust leak, but it might get the 02 sensor enough of a reading that it won't cause you horrible running problems (*might*). I've never tried this before, but it's just an idea to get you through the next couple days until the new sensor comes in. Metal wire would be key, as zip ties would obviously melt.
