Default UOA wear trending history on 2004 S2000

Mostly stock, NA, Shell V-Power, AFE PRO DRY air filter, Honda pcx004 oil filter. No oil consumption.

It also looks like changing out the O2 sensors last August took care of the fuel dilution issues that were building. This car is almost 10 years old now, and I've enjoyed it very much.

Nice
So, what are YOUR conclusions looking at this list?

I'm sure some are thinking: "See with the 0W-30 the iron ppm is the highest, that stuff is just tooooo thin!"

(maybe you are too... )

Anyway..

Thanks for posting.

You know I don't attribute much significance to SAE "w" viscosity numbers here in TX. If I could find an interesting SAE 30, I'd try it.

Although the Castrol Edge FST with titanium was given to me for testing and evaluation (12 of the 20 qts used so far), I can say without bias that it's a nice choice for the s2000 in either 5w-30 or 10w-30. I wouldn't be surprised if they weren't the same product with different labels. I can't remember ever getting an insolubles of 0.0% from Blackstone. I would think that would indicate excellent solvency.

I wouldn't waste my time with Syntec 0w-30. It's an old outdated formula that needs to go away.

On the other hand, the original Pennzoil Platinum (EOP) formula should have never gone away!

I'll probably go back to the LE 8130 after this current fill of Edge 10w-30. I was on my first fill of that when the Edge showed up at my door.

Thanks for posting Jack, I'm surprised you would go back to LE8130. the Edge additive package and your wear numbers look better since running that oil.

Well, I only had one fill of 8130 in this car. I don't like to test an oil until after the 2nd fill, unless I have a concern. But since I agreed to test the FST, I cut the 8130 short. It's difficult to argue lower wear numbers until you have some trending with the same oil in the sump for awhile. The Pennzoil Platinum showed promise, but was discontinued.

And using the same lab (equipment, ASTM specs), drain procedure, etc..
Those 2 things one can control, using the same oil for a longer time is harder for the average consumer using modern day OCI's, as that will take a while (= years!)
You have to either stock up on your test oil or hope they keep selling it.
Even with stored oil one may have an argument about how (if?) it degrades and, for example, if the bottle was shaken enough to get the settled additives back in suspension.

Oh well....

For shear, insolubles, fuel / coolant and TBN a UOA is usefull, no matter how long or short the OCI was.
When it comes to wear metals in ppm..... I donno.

Your wear numbers are pretty good. Now that your flash point is back up, it looks like everything is running well. That FST did fine.

You could probably increase your OCI a bit now that the fuel dilution issue is behind you.

Thanks for posting.

Nice! You can easily extend your OCI with results like this.

looks great Jack, this oil is working well for you. I also had good results with it on my car.
