With all the concern about the differential gears being the weak link in the power train of an S2K, why do we only see UOA's on motor oil in this forum? I think that I am the only one to post a UOA of gear lube so far. I was hoping to compare my results to others by now, even if it's not LE-607.

I just drained the diff and am going to send in the oil for analysis.
I replaced the OEM fluid at 7000 miles with Redline Gear Oil 75W90. The Redline was in the car for 15,000 miles. When the OEM fluid was drained, it was like lancing a boil. Thick, goopy crud came out that looked like motor oil that had not been changed in 12,000 miles. The replacement oil was straw-colored when it went in, and the pics below show typical dirty looking oil, not the sludge that came out the first time. I replaced the Redline with Mobil 1 75W90 gear oil.
I expected the magnetic crud to be in much smaller amounts, instead it was about half of what was there during the initial drain.
Here's some photos:

Something new that was noticed today with the Mobil 1. The rear diff is a helluva lot quieter than with the Redline. I did notice a slight increase in noise when i switched from the OEM stuff to Redline, but it must have gotten louder as time went on. Driving the car today practically all of the gear noise coming from the rear diff was gone. Just a faint hint on the "gear lash" or whine noise left.
The sample was also sent off today, so I'll have the results either late this week or early next week.

It looks like there is interest in diff oil again, so I'm bumping this thread so new members can see a UOA of LE 607 I did around a year ago. At the time, I lived in Virginia and did not drive the S2K when it was below 35 degrees F. It was a 8K mile sample that showed high nickel (wear metal) content, but everything else looked great. After reading Xviper's post with UOA's of Mobile 1 and I believe Red Line Shockproof which had relatively high nickel content for the mileage on the samples too, I wasn't as alarmed as Blackstone Laboratories was.
I sent another sample in last week with 11K miles on it, so I will post the results sometime this week.
