Underbody Coating
About a month ago while entering a shopping center parking lot I bottomed my car out. The slope of the entrance didn't look that sharp until I was already near the top. When I got home I looked under the car and noticed some of the underbody coating was disturbed and starting to pull away. This afternoon I looked under the car and there is about 6" of underbody coating that is missing on each side of the car revealing base metal. Can the underbody coating be replaced? Is it something a paint shop can shoot?

If you are worried about it you can buy a can of undercoating spray and touch it up yourself, very simple to do. I've used it on my car a couple times, it's easy to work with and covers really well. You can get it at most auto parts stores. The manufacturer name may be different from what we have up here in our parts, but it should all be the same, it migth be called rubberized rocker guard or undercoating spray.

I wouldn't be too concerned if it were on the inside of the rails. However, it is on the outside where the underbody is yellow to match the car. My guess is the black underbody coating is applied and allowed to dry and paint is sprayed on top? With the great condition of my car, I am concerned about potential rusting. Saying that, I am equally concerned with any patch looking OEM.

Oh I thought it was the black undercoating on the underside.
The area below the doors is a textured rocker guard that is paint matched to the vehicle. A body shop will be able to re-spray that for you and get the colour matched properly.
