unable to pull CEL
i have a 06 s2000 with a little over 5000 miles on it. i drove it to work every weekday and put bout 50miles on the weekdays.. drive the save everyday..
havent taking to honda yet .. but friend has one of those cel checkers. and i try to hook it up and it would say un able to link. also work at a toyota dealership and the toyota scan tool can check other cars too. and that was unable to link as well.
is there a certain scan tool to read cel on 06 s2000.. car drives fine and vtec and everything else works.. engine sounds fine.. any info would help
notes: put bout 160 miles after fill up of gas.. so not sure if its that as i heard on the 06s it would say check gas cap
havnt done an oil change yet.. its at 20% oil lvl is not low
have not added oil as well
didnt notice light till i was at a stop light.. so could have came on coming up to the light .. was doing no faster than 40mph
2 or 3 days ago i did do bout 140 mph not sure if that has anything to do with it
havnt appt for monday to get it checked out ..but might try autozone to see wat it is before i go.. but again any info would help thx or questions

It's rarely a problem with the car causing no scan tool communication. Either the tool isn't extended CAN (not just CAN) or you've got a connection issue btween the tool and the car.
Scanner cables that are used daily wear out from being plugged into many cars and pulled on constantly.

Whatever tool needs to be extened CAN enabled, not just CAN.
Welcome to having a 06 and newer car

From another thread:
"I have been trying to figure out the difference between CAN and Extended CAN. As far as I can tell the CAN protocol can be implemented at either 250 or 500 kbps. I don't know if this is the distinction. I have also noticed that "old" CAN uses an 11bit header whereas "new" CAN uses a 29bit header. According to some sites I have seen on the internet the newer Honda's use the 29bit header flavor of CAN, so I'm assuming for now the 29bit header may be what defines "extended" CAN."
EDIT: CAN = Controller Area Network (info only)
