Test pipe does not give white smoke. Test pipe gives black/blue smoke.
White smoke is coolant or water.
Smoke is sometimes difficult to tell which it is. But blue is oil, black is rich/fuel, and white is coolant/water.

about 500-600 miles. it shouldnt have lost that much though should it?? gone from in the middle of the dipstick to the L on the dipstick. probrally a 1-2 quarts. i put a quart in today and im going to moniter it and see how much im loosing quickly.
but for the good stuff, this is waht the honda tech said it could be:
he said that my exhaust could raise the engine temps. and cause it to burn oil.
i said well because its a larger diameter, shouldnt it lower engine temps or not affect it at all.
he said that the temps coming out hte exhaust could be lower but actally raise engine temps.
i just said oh, ok. what else could it be
he said maby a blown headgasket
i told him if it was a blown headgasket that it would be smoking out the engine bay not exhaust right?
he siad depends, if its not all the way ruptured it could smoke inside the engine and come out the exhaust. i said ok, and left.
^i dont think anything he said could be possible. but just want to make sure? thanks!!!

I'm not mechanic, I was told by my honda tech friend that the preludes can see as much as a quart pre 1000 miles and some older s2k's are getting there.
Some of what your tech said sounds reasonable. I'd be looking for an oil leak inside the motor. Pull the spark plugs, do they have oil on them?

white smoke usually means that coolant or water is burning inside your cylinders..
check your coolant level to check if this is the case for you.
if your leaking oil, smoke would be blueish white color.
in the morning before you start your car, check the oil dip stick for any milky thick coffee color oil, if do you have a leak..

don't forget that if you are running a test pipe, exess fuel can cause white smoke. at idle and low rpms it runs kinda rich so that might be causing it as well. if you can manage to get the car to smoke while you are sitting somewhere, smell the smoke, if it smells like fuel, you can get the car tuned to run a bit leaner, and it could possibly stop. the reason why it will not smoke with a cat installed, if it IS fuel, the cat burns it off.
