Turkey Clutch
Guys I have this wierd thing going on with my MY01 with 24k miles. I have had this wierd sound coming from my clutch assembly for a month or so now. It actually sounds like a turkey gobbling under the car. I'm not joking either. It's like a wierd squeeking sound or something, hard to explain.
We put a stethoscope into the drain slot in the clutch housing and can blatantly hear it coming from inside. I knew I was going to get a new clutch/flywheel setup installed 2 weeks later, so I was gonna wait and look at it then.
I had everything pulled and inspected, with nothing looking out of the ordinary.
I installed a new pressure plate/disk/TOB/and flywheel and the sound is still there.
Is is possible that it is the tranny? Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Does it happen at low speeds (under 10 mph) with the clutch in or out, and then disappear as you accelerate? I don't have a solution, but my car has that sound, but only in the low speed situation.
I was looking for a description of the sound, and turkey gobbling is pretty close. The sound doesn't happen when the car is cool. It appears only after the car has been on the road for a while and then after I slow down for a stop the noise starts. I originally thought it was the brake squeakers, but I have Porterfield R4S brake pads on the car and as far as I know the pads don't have the squeakers. There's no affect on performance, but I get some weird looks at stop signs/lights every now and then.

It defiantely starts doing it after it warms up.
No difference with clutch in or out.
I'm not sure if it still does it when driving as my exhaust drowns that out.
After driving when I come to a stop, it is definately still doing it.
Dunno guys, it has us stumped.

I usually attribute sounds like that to a belt slipping or something warped. Gloffer, yours might be attributed to a slightly warped rotor that gets slightly more out of whack as it heats up. RXDI, I'm stumped as well, check you belts and make sure that it's not something originated with them.

Could it be related to installing the Krank Vents? It started happening around the same time I installed them. My car is still in the shop, but I will remove them and see if it goes away.
Keep ya posted..
