Well I spoke with the Ultimate Racing guys and they said that 2.5 is definitely sufficient for what my needs are. I don't plan on boosting more than 7psi which comes should net about 320rwhp.
But for the guys who mentioned 3", what kind of power are you making and what PSI?

Dont do the 3" to dual 2.5"....that's just a bad idea and you'd probably make more power off running 2.5" all the way through than that. There is also importance in material used if you're looking for most power. Wall friction, rust, coeff. of thermal conductivity, etc. So if you're gonna go for 3" dont go backwards and use something like mild steel. Best thing to make an exhaust system post-turbo would be aluminum. You want to cool down the exhaust temps as much as you probably can.

Kane, you sure about aluminium as an exhaust tubing? I've never seen thin or thick wall aluminium tube used in an exhaust system. I just don't think it can take the heat.
I know of old super stock Pontiac 421SD's that came with cast aluminium exhaust manifolds. They couldn't be run for more than a few minutes at a time before melting the manifolds.

Really depends on how far down the line and his EGT's to start off with. I know of a 2 people running an aluminum pipe for their exhaust. The manifold is just a bad idea because that's really where the highest temps would be. Also depends on the grade aluminum. There are many types of aluminum. While welding, i've noticed a few things. A cast aluminum piece like our oil pan can't take almost any heat compared to a billet aluminum piece. When welding a fiting or baffle to the pan almost all the heat goes to the extruded aluminum piece and the heat radiating on the outter wall of the heat is enough to melt the cast.
