Tuning aside from an EMS

Brian is right, a standalone is not needed--its just overkill for what you are doing. Way more money and efford than you need to spend.
An Apex'i AFC (NEO or VAFC) will work
or Emanage Blue or Ultimate will work too, with Ultimate being the most capable of the choices. However the Ultimate is probably even way more than you need. Hook one of these up and a good tuner can likely be done within an hour or two.

vafc if your gona stay na, but if you do come across a sick deal for an aem, and want to learn to do it yourself, i am a big fan of that! i did it!
but, simple and cheap, VAFC + 2 hours dyno. leaner is not always better, dyno and sniffer will dictate your best AFR.

thanks for all the replies so far guys....i've been doing a little searching through google for prices and parts i need...so correct me if i'm wrong but this is what i'm looking at for a setup like that:
1) Apexi Neo or V-AFC (i think it just comes with the unit itself)
2) Boomslang Harness (to piggyback the Apexi to the factory ecu)
3) A reputable tuner who will tune the Apexi to run a little leaner and maybe set the vtec engagement point to 5700 or so
should I go with one of the shops listed as the Apexi retailers in my area...anyone know a good tuner shop that's reasonably close to me (Yonkers, NY in Westchester County)
also what am I looking at $350 for the Apexi (if i go with the Neo), Boomslang for $140, and finally a tune....I guess my question here is how much am I looking at for a tune??
