TSB Problem Please help: I was told if car is out of warranty they wont do TSB's

There's three kinds of TSBs.
The first is simply informational. Such as TSB 01-001, which lists paint codes.
The second kind is recall campains. Examples are the spark plug and seatbelt recalls. These absolutely should be done by the dealer no matter what the age/mileage of the car. I think this is even required by law.
The third kind is the one that causes the most confusion. They are essentially extensions to the shop manual on how to make certain repairs to the cars. The second gear grind and clutch buzz are two of the most often talked about here on s2ki. However, Honda is no more obligated to repair something for free on a car no longer in warranty for an issue that has a TSB written up about it than any other issue that doesn't have a TSB. This applies to all dealers, whether they be Honda, Porsche or Ferrari. Now, some dealer might be willing to repair something for you for free if your car is out of warranty, but that's between you and the dealership's management personally.
Now, one can argue that dealers should repair known problems no matter how old the car is, and I agree that'd definitely be nice, but I don't see it ever happening.

when i did the spring in my clutch issue i was not out of warranty. i had to pay. Because it was abuse or so they say. My car is never off road or used in any way in which it was not designed for.

I just wonder if I owned a car by a company (lotus, ferrari, etc)that only made sports cars. If it would be any different. I am sure maintance would be expensive, but with my mech issues and the tires, brakes and service my S2000 hasn't been cheap to operate for 48000 miles.

I doubt it. A Porsche owning friend of mine told me that the GT2 owners on the Rennlist site were griping that Porsche wouldn't replace clutches worn after about 5000 miles - Porsche used the exact same excuse, "abuse." That's on a car costing nearly $200,000...

That is so discouraging, it is really becoming hard to a sports car enthusiast unless its out of a magazine.
Its like there no customer service, if spend that kind of money i would expect some service after i leave the store, if i have problems that fast. I will day my really didnt have to many probllems until i hit the 40k mark.
Although porsche makes an SUV if that matters they are trying to go main stream i think.
just my 2 cents

My local Honda dealer was very willing to perform warrantee repairs and TSBs on my first S2000 (MY '00) while it was within warrantee. It didn't have any warrantee issues after that and up to its demise at 53k miles.
After hearing anecdotal information like this, and from personal experience, I've decided to not "abuse" my S2000 anymore and have purchased a 10 year old Miata to play with on the track. I figure that I can replace the entire car for less than an engine rebuild on the S2000. I consider it a form of self-insurance and it has let me have fun without worry. Might be worth considering ...
