I just called American Honda customer service yesterday to report my 4th gear pop out issue that has been discussed all over this board. To my surprise, the rep stated that there is no TSB for this issue, in fact he hasn't even heard of anyone else calling in about this issue. I know for a fact that many owners have had this misfortune, I've taken my car to the dealership 4 times now and they cannot duplicate the problem, therefore cannot fix it. I am calling out to all the folks on this board that have or had this problem to call customer service and report it. I think this is the only way we can actually have Honda put out a recall or at the very least recognize it with a TSB. Please help. Thanks!!

The phone number for American Honda Motors is:

M-F 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Pacific Time
(800) 999-1009

I have an 02 blk on blk. and have not had that happen to me. Although yesterday, I did have the 2nd gear grind. When I went to shift into 2nd, it grinded like something awful but still went into gear. It was warmed up to 3 bars but I guess it wasn't long enough. It had just gotten to 3 bars. Another thing; when I vtec in 1st, that's when I got the grind. I know a little off your subject, but that's what I'm experiencing with my tranny. No 4th gear jump.

It is a known problem although there is no TSB for the 4th gear problem. A good dealer would have a brief conversation with the tech line and know what to do.. mine did.

Someone help the community by calling into customer service. I know I'm not the only one.

Man am I glad to find your post. This problem has been driving me nuts. I have my MY02 into Auto West Honda in Roseville on 2 or 3 occasions to have them look at this. It is totally random and happens in my case from 43-65 MPH always in 4th gear. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME IN EXCESS OF 75 TIMES IN LESS THAN 15K miles. Each visit to the dealership I take the guys for a ride to see if I can duplicate it (of course not!!!). When I was there last I was just under 40 occurances and I was beginning to get irritated that they would not believe ME THE CUSTOMER that it was happening. Hey, they changed the tranny oil and asked if I shifted funny. This happens to EVERYONE who drives my car.

I will call customer service and I would LOVE to meet you at the dealer to get this looked into. I will print out these posts and attach them to my original correspondence.

There are LOTS of posts with MY01's but here are some on '02's:
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...?threadid=39245 (robbase)
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...p?threadid=3118 (various)
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=81580 (TIMBER got it FIXED!)
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...&threadid=83344

PM me and let's gang up on them in Roseville.

I been having a PM discussion with Robbase. He has been fixed up for quite awhile. He went through 3 dealerships to get it done but it got done. Maybe the good news is that his story and others here helped me. Looks like I am getting fixed too!!!
