I realize the S2k tranny can be less than refined ...
Say What!?
That's an insult man

The S2k transmission is one of the best shifting gearboxes ever.
With the direct steel rod linkage between your hand and the synchro hub, you feel exactly what's going on in there.
No bowden cables, no play.
So if YOU f**k up, YOU feel it, don't blame it on the gearbox

Okay, the splines, master & slave and pushrod need to be in a good shape and well lubed.
IMO 85-90% of all shifting issues are related to:
#1 - shifting too quick for the revs.
#2 - foot / hand coordiantion wrong.
#3 - sticky clutch disk.
#4 - crunchy / dry push rod, dry shifter pivot.
#5 - master / slave not bled well / air in slave.
#6 - old oil.

The order is not set in stone.

Could be technique I suppose. Been driving manuals for 18+ years never had an issue. Had an '05 with a transmission that was great when warm, lackluster when cold. Been riding motorcycles for 20+ years. I think I get the mechanics of how to shift.

Could be #3, unsure what you mean by #4, everything else should be fine.
